The origins of zodiac fortune telling trace back nearly 4,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia. The Babylonians observed the night sky and divided the sun's path — the ecliptic — into 12 sections, naming each after mythological figures and animals. This became the earliest blueprint of the 12 zodiac signs we know today. They believed celestial movements were directly connected to earthly events, and from this belief, astrology was born.

Around the 4th century BCE, Babylonian astrology spread into the Greek world. Greek philosophers enriched the system by weaving mythological stories and personality traits into each sign. In China, the sky was divided into 28 lunar mansions, and a sophisticated system — the Four Pillars (사주, Saju) — emerged across Korea, China, and Japan. Rooted in yin-yang philosophy and the Five Elements, Eastern astrology reads fate through the year, month, day, and hour of one's birth. Today, many people draw wisdom from both traditions.
